Rainbow Cake

Ever since seeing this gorgeous Rainbow Cake on The Idea Room I have been dying to make one.  Well I decided to try it for Callie's birthday because that was as good a reason as any! In all the baking that I have done, this was actually the first layer cake that I have ever made and also the first cake that I have decorated.  It still needs a little work but I think it turned out pretty good if I do say so myself!

Busy Weekend!

Busy does not even describe how this past weekend was! First of all I was trying to pack up my apartment and have everything to ready to move on Sunday.  I didn't think it would be that bad since 1 person can only accumulate so much stuff in just 2 years, well I was definitely wrong! It seemed like I just kept finding stuff that belonged to me in every room of my apartment (even room's that weren't mine like my roommates closet!) I had to go out 2 different times to get more boxes. 

Then for some reason I decided that this weekend would be a good time to get a new (to me anyway) car in the middle of moving!  I have actually been thinking about trading in my car for something bigger for a while now.  While I was looking at different cars online I found the perfect one, an 08 4 Runner that had everything I wanted.  I got in touch with the dealership, worked out a deal and on Saturday I got the car.  I really like it so far and it has so much room compared to my old car!

I finally got everything packed up and with some great help (thanks Callie and Jeremy!) yesterday I got everything moved.  Now I guess I should get to unpacking all of my stuff now! And since I hate a pictureless post here is a picture of one of Max I took last weekend when it snowed...

Wish List Wednesday

Since I am moving this weekend, the only thing I am wishing for is

a) Someone to come to my apartment and pack all of my belongings!

b) Movers to come carry all of said stuff down my 3 flights of steps and then into my house (without my help)!

c) Someone to come unpack and organize all of my belongings once I get moved!

That isn't too much for a girl to ask is it ;)

Shower for Callie

This past weekend, myself and a few other lovely ladies had planned a shower and apparently Mother Nature might have had other plans.  If you live around here you know that we got a few inches of snow on Friday/Friday night and well this didn't go to well with our shower plans.  Luckily we decided to change the time of the shower from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and it couldn't have worked out more perfectly! 

I love to plan showers and parties, well I really like to plan anything of the sort!  I had really been enjoying the planning of this shower since it was for Callie.  We started planning it about a month and a half ago and had been working on it for a while.  I ordered the invitations and favors for the shower which is my favorite part!  Needless to say, I was not very happy when I thought we might have to cancel the shower because of the weather!  I'm so glad everything worked out! 

We had a great turnout out and had about 30 people that were able to attend!  It was wonderful and River got loads of cute things!  Even though we had the shower at 1:00 instead of 11:00 am, we still had the brunch food that we were going to have and it was amazing! I couldn't not have done the shower without the wonderful ladies that helped to host the shower with me (so if you are reading ladies, THANK YOU)! 

Almost Finished...

Yes I am talking about River's nursery!  Sorry it has taken me a while to post about this but I am just now having the chance.  Last week, Sallie Hambright painted the wall mural in the nursery and it looks amazing!  She did an excellent job and it goes wonderfully with his bedding!  Now the only thing that Callie has left to do is hang a print on the wall and get the glider put in the room when it comes in and it will be completely finished. Then the only thing we will be waiting for is River's arrival!!  Can you tell how excited I am to be a aunt?

Another Baby Shower Post...

So I know ya'll are probably tired of hearing about all things baby by now but I just can't resist.  This weekend I went to a baby shower for my friend Mary Megan.  It was a really great shower and a wonderful time was had by all.  We had great food and some very good and interesting conversations ;)  She received  a lot of cute and girly things.  I enjoyed looking at all of the girly and cutesy stuff for little girls because all I have been seeing lately is little boy (they are adorable also)!

I can't wait to meet Miss Mara Dae! Mary Megan even said that I could come take some pictures of her after she is born so I am super excited about that.  I made a ton a cute hairbows on headbands and kufi hats for her to wear when she is a baby and I can't wait to see them on her because I just love big hairbows on little girls! 

Callie's Shower

This weekend was great!  The shower that I went to on Friday was wonderful and lots of fun.  Callie's shower on Saturday was amazing.  Jeremy's Aunts and Shellie (Callie's SIL) hosted it and it turned out wonderul!  There were a lot of people that got to come and even some of our family from out-of-town that we don't get to see very often! All in all it was a great shower and River received so much! The hosts of the shower got Callie her swing, bouncer and pack-n-play (so generous!) and her MIL got her a highchair! River got tons of clothes, blankets, bibs, etc, and a load of diapers which Jeremy was very happy about! Enough babbling though, here are the pictures!
